A little bit of history.
People like to keep us in a tidy box, a space with boundaries, where they know how we begin and how we end. I’m not happy to be in that box, these days. To be clear, I’m a photographer, but I’m also an artist, a fledgling motion-capture maker, a teacher, administrator and an academic, a mother and wife, and I really like writing. I make pictures of people, mostly, in ways that reveal something of who they are, and in other ways that speak to who we all are.
The one ever-present concern I have is with light. I know all photographers spout that, but that’s our particular speciality, and I guess, our obsession. I know instinctively about the light I want something to live in, and how I want to manipulate it. I enjoy making ordinary things beautiful, and I enjoy telling stories with pictures. The rest is in a constant state of flux.
